Nov 05: Westside bounce back with home win over Towers

After last weeks close defeat, Westside looked to get back to winning ways and they entertained London Towers 2 in a top of the table clash. The home team got off to a tremendous start scoring the games first nine points as they executed on offense to perfection. Towers came back into the game with some three point shots but Westside continued to score freely with the inside presence of Patrick Omigie and the outside shooting of Daniel Worku and Mark Shipley and the first quarter finished 24 - 17. The second quarter was more of the same as the bench players made steady contributions to the Westside cause and at half time the home team was leading 41 - 30.

After halftime, Towers came back into the game and scored six straight points to reduce the decit to 5 and seize the momentum as they started to score on the break as their zone left Westside shooting perimeter shots which weren't falling. The visitors even took the lead until a three pointer from Westside left the score tied at 51. In the fourth, Westside assumed control as they played stifling man to man defense to limit their opposition to 6 points in the quarter to win by 10 points. The final score was 67 - 57. The leading scorers were Daniel Worku with 20 points and Patrick Omigie with 13 points.

Coach Frank Lamptey commented "It was good to get a win after last weeks disappointment but we played well for the first 20 minutes and then went to sleep in the third quarter. We have to be consistent in our effort of playing 40 minutes every game"

Westside have a week off from National League fixtures and their next game is on the 26th at home to Brixton Topcats in the League.
