Jan 06: Westside put the fire on the Rockets

On Saturday, Westside resumed their National League campaign with a comprehensive 55 point victory over Reading Rockets. After falling behind on the first score of the game, Westside kickstarted into action by establishing their running game and executing their half court offense for a 10 point lead by halftime. A blistering run of 15 unanswered points at the start of the third quarter keyed by a thunderous dunk by Westside guard Ola Odigan opened up the game as the home team shifted into another gear to open up a 31 lead going into the fourth. In the fourth quarter, the reseverves came into the game to continue the offensive onslaught as they outscored the Rockets 41 - 17 for a final score of 127 - 72. The leading scorers were Mark Shipley with 28 and Daniel Worku with 19 points. Coach Frank Lamptey commented "This was a pretty good performance offensively and I'm told that our score of 127 was the highest in the National League this weekend. We still have a few things to work on defensively as our goal is to hold teams under 60 points but we have to continue to work hard in practise to build on this performance"

On Saturday, Westside make the short trip to NW London to play local rivals, London Capitals at Capital City Academy at 2pm in what is sure to be an explosive encounter.
